“The academy facilities are excellent of course. For me, it is a way of giving back to the community in Cyprus. When I went to train in France when I was 14 years old, I went because there weren’t the facilities in Cyprus to become a professional tennis player.
20 years later, I found there were still no facilities, so I thought it was about time for that to change. That’s what we are trying to do.
We are trying to make the best facilities and to help the Cyprus kids, or tennis enthusiasts that dream of becoming professional tennis players, or even who want to use tennis as a way to go and study in the States with a scholarship. Anything they want to achieve in their life, we want to help them.
“I learnt so much from the academies that I went to and that has helped me to create my own methodology of how I want to kind of run this academy. Both the City of Dreams team and I have very high standards and that is the reason the collaboration happened.

“It’s an amazing resort. And I don’t say that because I collaborate with City of Dreams, but I get to go with my family and there are so many things to do for kids. They have the Adventure Park; we are there every second Sunday in the summer. The kids’ pool is brilliant too, it’s very easy to let them play while we have a coffee or a drink. Every Saturday we go to the Chinese Amber Dragon restaurant, because we love it there. We really enjoy being there and spending time as a family.”
The official grand opening of the Marcos Baghdatis Tennis Academy took place at the end of 2024 in Cyprus and featured an electrifying showdown featuring one of the sport’s all-time greats, Andre Agassi. The event was an unforgettable experience for tennis fans who enjoyed the rare opportunity to witness Agassi and Cyprus’ own, Marcos Baghdatis, face off in an exciting tennis match.
